I think you might run into trouble at that "bottom" end of the station where you don't have a semaphore-able space to protect each station track, but it's been a while and I'm not sure if that's actually going to be a problem.

I was wondering what other people enjoy and would recommend I try out, or just your thoughts on your. :) But if you'd rather not, I'd start with the following arrangement: Ive been playing OpenTTD by myself for about four or five years now, and I have a few favorite NewGRFs, such as HEQS (Heavy Equipment Set), Industrial Stations Renewal, North American Road Vehicle Set, the US and UK Railway sets, and the ECS. My advice for you is to start by simplifying your tracks. A water supply can only be built in desert areas. It produces Water which should be delivered to a Water Tower, but does not accept any cargo. One way to mitigate deadlocks is to leave enough space between semaphores to fit the whole train and try to avoid chokepoints like the semaphore at X would be. A water supply is a primary industry that only appears in the sub-tropical climate. For example, if you had three semaphores set up like this:Īnd a train passed through semaphore Y while your other train's heading back from the oil refinery station, you can end up in a situation where semaphor X will block both trains and they'll sit there forever (until you notice that your profits are dropping like crazy). You also have to make sure you set them in a way that doesn't result in a deadlock. The basic idea is that once a train passes through a semaphore, the semaphore turns red behind it until the train passes through another one further down the track. However, if you want to overlap a part of the track, you pretty much have to set up semaphores at each intersection to make sure your trains don't crash into each other. The absolute easiest thing to do would be to avoid semaphores and build two separate tracks, each leading to a separate slot in the double station.

In this series i will be exploring the ECS vector and all its industries. This i. Never quite figured out one-way ones properly. Let's Play OpenTTD Complete ECS Vector - EP1Welcome to my Let's Play OpenTTD. But FIRS still being under active development was what moved me to switch to it entirely and use it as my everyday industry set.Disclaimer: I usually use two-way semaphores. They're different sets, each with its own style and features, they're both very high quality sets, so they're both very good on their own account. OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game Transport Tycoon Deluxe, a popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer.

I find the appeal of ECS to be its challenge, and that of FIRS its variety (though FIRS is certainly challenging as well).

It has plenty of variety too, though I believe Full FIRS economy has the most (which can be a good thing or a. With that said, ECS is still very much usable, I haven't had any noteworthy issues with vehicle set compatibility so far, and it's a great pick if you enjoy its challenge and features. That, and I'll admit ECS's gimmicks can become a little tiring after a very long time of playing with them (though IIRC you can turn off some of them, but still). FYI with FIRS there is more than one industry settings to try. I've played with ECS for the longest time, but eventually I made the switch to FIRS because of its active development and frequent updating (not just for the new features, but also for the highest reliability in terms of compatibility with other current sets and newest OTTD features). anoxiousweed Train 12 is lost Additional comment actions.
